Mango season is in full swing and it looks like many varieties here at TREC will mature earlier than normal. I'll have my work cut out for me as I try document each mango variety hanging on the tree and cut in half back in the lab. The lychee images seen below are from the 2001 lychee crop. I had the opportunity to photograph and sample many varieties from the Fairchild Tropical Garden collection. Last year, Dr. Richard Campbell, Curator of Tropical Fruit at Fairchild Tropical Garden, held a lychee cultivar sampling at the Miami-Dade County Cooperative Extension Service and I was able to photograph over 20 lychee varieties in one day. |
